Health, Safety & Welfare
Health, Safety & Welfare is our primary concern. We realise that we have a duty of care to all of our employees, representatives, customers, general public and anyone else that could be affected by our work.
Our Company Health & Safety Policy is available on request by any member of the public or, prospective customer. The policy is followed by all of our employees and is implemented in accordance to any Risk Assessment, Method Statement, Environmental Policy or any released Guidance Notification.
If you have any questions about our approach to Health & Safety please contact us on 01704 537337 or email on hsw@rigbygroup.co.uk.
Employee Heath, Safety and Welfare Training
All of our employees are required to complete rigorous health, safety and welfare training as well as complete periodic refresher courses. Key courses that all employees complete are:
- Manual Handling
- Ladder Safety
- Use of Abrasive Wheels
- PASMA Tower Scaffolding
Project Heath & Safety
Every project or job that we undertake has the following documentation completed:
- Risk Assessments: Identifies risks and consequences associated with each project task
- Method Statements: Informs the project team “how” to perform the project task safely, taking into account the risks.
For construction contracts that fall under Construction Design Management Regulations 2007, we will produce for each project a Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan, along with full site specific Risk Assessments, Method Statements and COSHH reports are written. We constantly audit, review and produce reports for our site. We close each project with a standard Health and Safety File.
All our Site Managers hold the CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme Certificate, and are fully trained in first aid to a minimum of Health & Safety at Work 1974 First Aid, all training given by Mersey Regional Ambulance Service or St. John Ambulance Service.
Safety of Children and Staff
As we undertake work in educational facilities (schools, colleges and universities, etc) we recognise that Health & Safety is even more important. All our project sites fully comply with Health & Safety regulations and are segregated secured to ensure that children and/or staff do not inadvertently enter a construction area.
Commitment to Health & Safety
As part of our commitment to Health & Safety we are training our own Health & Safety Advisor to the qualification of NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Safety & Health.
The NEBOSH National Construction Certificate is accredited at Level 3, and in October 2000 became the first health and safety awarding body to be accredited by the UK regulatory authorities within the National Qualification Framework (NQF) by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) in England, the Department for Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.
The qualification also meets the academic requirements for Technician Membership (Tech IOSH) of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and Associate membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).
