Rigby Building Contractors Ltd was incorporated in August 1996. The company was established by the two directors, Darren Rigby & Martin Oakley, who had between them over 30 years experience in the building and construction trade.

Martin brought his wealth of experience from many years working on all types of heating & plumbing contracts, ranging from small domestic installations to the bigger industrial and commercial contracts.

Darren, who was a bricklayer by trade, brought years of experience in all types of construction, from single house builds, housing estates, apartment developments, large industrial unit constructions and small and large scale refurbishments.

They had a vision, that having a “building company” which had a full range of “in-house” trades (i.e. plumbers, joiners, bricklayers, etc) would give them the edge when delivering a first class service to tight time scales.

And it worked. It gave them an advantage when working on projects with a short turn around time, as having all trades on hand meant the logistics of each contract became much easier. In fact, it wasn’t long before they realised that it was also essential to have an electrical presence.

In 2000, a sister company named Rigby Electrical Ltd was formed.  Heading the company is Darren Middleton, an experienced, time-served, electrical engineer with over 15 years experience in both practical electrical engineering, electrical design, team and project management.

In the years since 1996, Rigby Contractors (made up of Rigby Building Contractors Ltd. and Rigby Electrical Ltd.) has continued to go from strength to strength, and at a pace that has allowed infrastructure to develop at the same time as turnover and volume of work.

The company’s work ethic of collaborative working involving all parties / stakeholders, from inception to completion and aftercare demands the setting of “clear objectives” encompassing the following key principles.

Between them, the four Company Directors have now in excess of over 75 years of experience in the construction industry, and have built a strong reputation and brand by their commitment to the industry.

They are all very conscious about delivering a first class job at every occasion, conscious about the welfare and Health & Safety of clients and their workforce, and conscious about meeting deadlines and standards at every turn
